President Buhari meets Service Chiefs and Police IG

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with all service chiefs at the Defence House in Abuja.

The chiefs of defence, Alex Bade; army, Kenneth Minimah; navy, Usman Jibrin; air force, Adesola Amosun; and the police Inspector General, Solomon Arase, attended the meeting.

While the details of the meeting were not yet clear, it was the president’s first meeting with the military commanders since he assumed duty on Friday.

Mr. Buhari had during his inauguration ceremony at the eagle square in Abuja said that the military command centre will be relocated to Maiduguri in Borno State – the center stage of all Boko Haram terrorists’ activities.

He said the move is an effort to subdue the terrorists and rescue the abducted Chibok girls and other innocent persons held hostage by the insurgents.
“The command centre will be relocated to Maiduguri and remain until Boko Haram is completely subdued. But we cannot claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by insurgents,” the president had said.
He said while progress has been made by the military in the past weeks, victory cannot be achieved by basing the command and control centre in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
