Petrol tanker accident claims 10 lives in Ondo
A fuel-laden tanker on Wednesday caused tragedy at Owena, a border town between Ondo and Osun states, killing no fewer than 10 persons while not less than 20 others were injured.
The accident, which occurred in the afternoon on the Akure-Ilesha Road when the tanker with Total logo lost its brake and rammed into a market that was along the road.
An eye witness told journalists that the tanker was heading towards the Akure end of the road from the Ilesha end when the accident happened.
It was gathered that some of the victims of the road accident were said to be traders, artisans and drivers who parked their vehicles by the road side.
While the remains of the dead victims were deposited at the mortuary of the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, those injured were also admitted for treatment.
