Henderson urges Raheem Sterling to stay at Liverpool

Jordon Henderson has urged Raheem Sterling to commit to Liverpool.

Sterling has already turned down a new contract worth in the region of £100,000 with his agent claiming the midfielder will not sign a new deal regardless of its worth.

Liverpool cancelled planned contract talks with Sterling following his agent’s comments and fans made their feelings clear when they heckled him from the stands ahead of the club’s 6-1 defeat at Stoke on the final day of the season.

Henderson has been impressed with how Sterling has dealt with the criticism and hopes he remains at Anfield.
“One thing I love about him. He’s a great person and a great lad. He’s getting a lot of criticism because of the contract situation, but he’s first class as a person, all the lads love him whether it’s here with England or Liverpool,” Henderson told reporters ahead of England’s international friendly against the Republic of Ireland.

“He’s a great professional. His work ethic is fantastic. He works as hard as he can and wants to improve all the time. With respect to him he’s obviously left that to whoever’s representing him in regards to what he wants to do. But for me Raheem Sterling is a fantastic player and he’s been brilliant for England, I hope he will stay at Liverpool.”
