FRSC boss killed in petrol tanker crash in Osun
Tragedy struck on Wednesday as a petrol tanker which lost control ran over the car conveying the Coordinator, Federal Road Safety Corps Special Marshal Programme in Osun State, Chief S. O. Adewale, his wife and another occupant.
Adewale died on the spot but his wife and the other occupant of the car, who some said was the deceased’s son, who suffered varying degrees of injuries, were rushed to the hospital.
Adewale was said to be going back to Ife, where he resided, from Owo, Ondo State, when the accident occurred.
The special marshal was said to have parked his car beside the main road at Owena market in Osun State to buy some few things from the market.
But an eyewitness told newsmen that the fuel tanker, which was said to have suffered a break failure, lost control and ran over the car.
The deceased was an anchor of a popular weekly road safety programme on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation and was always at the forefront of road safety awareness.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Osun State, Mr. Mohammed Husaini, when contacted, confirmed the accident.

The sector commander said, “I was told that he stopped at Owena market to buy some tubers of yam and a petrol tanker belonging to Total lost control and ran over his car.
“The accident involved the tanker, the deceased’s car and a motorcycle. But the man was the only one who died. He was confirmed dead at a hospital nearby. His body was moved to Wesley Hospital this morning (Thursday).
“It is unfortunate that he died just like that. He was the only one who died in the accident. His wife and son suffered injuries and had been taken to hospital for treatment.”
