Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta joins Sevilla

Gael Kakuta has joined Sevilla on a permanent deal.

Kakuta joined Chelsea from Lens in 2007 but he did not make his first-team debut until November 2009 when he came off the bench against Wolverhampton.

However, he struggled to break into the first team and managed just 16 games for the club.

Following loans spells with Fulham, Bolton Wanderers, Dijon and Vitesse Arnhem he moved to Rayo Vallecano, making 35 appearances for the Spanish club, but he has now joined Sevilla on a permanent deal.
“I’m here because of what I did at Rayo. I can bring quality to this team,” the 23-year-old told the Liga club’s official website.

“I really like the sporting project and the fact that Sevilla play good football. It’s true I’ve been to a lot of clubs but I came here for some stability. My aim is to stay here.”
A statement on Chelsea website read: “We thank Gael for his service and wish him well for the future.”
