Tottenham to resist bids for Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur will resist any bids for Harry Kane this summer. The 21-year-old is one of the most highly rated forwards in the Premier League after his goalscoring exploits this season.

Kane has scored 30 goals for the club and he took just 79 seconds to find the net on his England debut against Lithuania in March, after coming on as a substitute.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Tottenham academy graduate, but the London club are understood not interested in selling the player.

Kane signed a five-and-a-half-year deal in February and there is no sign that the player himself or Tottenham are ready to part ways.

United underlined their willingness to spend on Thursday when their executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, told investors that the club would be active in the transfer market this summer.

Louis van Gaal has spent more than £150m on seven new signings since he was appointed manager, but United’s £750m kit deal with Adidas means the Dutchman has money to spend this summer.

United have already signed Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven for £25m and they are also in the market for a dynamic midfielder.

They need reinforcements up front after a poor collective showing from their strikers this season and additions are also required in defence.

United are understood to be interested in signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid if he becomes available but sources close to the player insist the Welshman is going nowhere despite his indifferent form for the Spanish giants.
