Mourinho wants Petr Cech to stay at Chelsea

Jose Mourinho wants Petr Cech to remain at Chelsea despite the goalkeeper’s agent claiming he has held talks with ‘interested parties’.

Cech has made just five Premier League starts this season following Thibaut Courtois’ return from a loan spell at Atletico Madrid and he has hinted that he will not spend another season as the Belgian’s number two.

His agent Viktor Kolar revealed this week that he has opened talks with ‘interested parties’ but Mourinho has made it clear Chelsea will have a say in his future.

Indeed, the Chelsea boss is optimistic that Cech will remain at Stamford Bridge.
“I have to say, yes, I am optimistic that he can be here next year,” Mourinho told reporters on Friday.

“I keep saying the same. I want my best players, Petr is one of my best players. I would like him to stay.

“I don’t know if it’s absolutely true what the agent is saying. Maybe it is but he has a contract with Chelsea and we have an important say in his decision.”
