Memphis Depay wants to be Manchester United's new Ronaldo

Memphis Depay has set his sights on becoming the best player in the world as he gears up for his move to Manchester United.

The Old Trafford club confirmed the £25million capture of the Holland international last week; the forward will be first of a string of high profile signings by Louis van Gaal this summer.

And Depay says he can emulate Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo by becoming a world great.
Depay, at the launch of Under Armour's new Speedform football boot in London on Wednesday, said: 'I believe I can be one of the best players in the world.

'That's why I have my 'Dreamchaser' tattoo on my chest. I don't have a secret. You have to work on your dreams everyday that's what I'm doing.

'I was very happy with my World Cup. But even when the World Cup was finished I knew I had to keep focused.

'That's what I spoke to my manager about when I got back from the World Cup. That's one of the keys to my success.

'I'm very excited, I've always dreamt about the Premier League - it's a big dream that's come true. But it's not the end of the dream - it's just starting.'
Depay added that he appreciated comments from those who drew likenesses between him and Ballon d'Dor winner and former United ace Cristiano Ronaldo.
'I heard people compare me to Cristiano Ronaldo,' he told Goal on Wednesday.

'It's great to hear other people say that but I'm still 21 and I hope one day I can reach the level of Cristiano Ronaldo.'
And the forward admits he is looking forward to re-acquainting himself with Louis van Gaal, who he worked with at intentional level before the manager's move to the Premier League.
'Louis is different from other trainers. After the World Cup he told me to stay hungry. It's great to have an opportunity to work with him,' Depay said.

'I'm looking forward to improving myself, I know it's a tough league. I've spoken to Dutch players and I want to prove I can be a big player.'
