Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan open talks with Barcelona and Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has hinted he could seal a move to either Barcelona or Bayern Munich in the near future by revealing he has held talks with the European duo.

Gundogan, who is also said to be attracting interest from Barclays Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United, is expected to leave in the summer as the club have already said he will not sign a new deal at the Westfalenstadion.

Dortmund would face the prospect of losing Gundogan on a free transfer in the summer of 2016 if they do not cash in on the Germany international before the end of his current contract.

And the 24-year-old has revealed he has opened negotiations with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, while also not ruling out the possibility of plying his trade at Dortmund next season.
When asked if he was learning Catalan or Bavarian, Gundogan replied: 'We are holding talks yes, but no decision has been made. I can't say more than that on this.

'I'll leave it [Dortmund future] open as to whether they continue with or without me. BVB are a great team and a really good coach is coming.

'I don’t know how the team will look next season. The challenge will be to get the great potential of this team back on the pitch. We managed to do that too little during the last year.

'In some ways we're glad this difficult season is over now.'
Barcelona must wait until until January 2016 if they are going to make a serious attempt at signing Gundogan as the Catalan giants were hit with a two-window international transfer ban in April 2014.
