Dr Modupe Alade - a distinguished educationist and administrator

Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Alade could be described as a candor and an asset with robust moral vitality. She is a giver, a dedicated home keeper and maker, a successful administrator and a zealous Christian that God has greatly favoured to reach the position of a Permanent Secretary in Ekiti State Civil Service. She has relentlessly worked as a vanguard in achieving effective results and service delivery with total trust and confidence in God Almighty.

Born about five and half (51/2) decades ago to a humble Family of Chief Aluko Akintoye of Akususun of Iwore Quarters and Mrs. Ruth Olabimpe Akintoye both of blessed memory, from the Fadare Family, Ifaki-Ekiti. Young Modupe opened the lusty gate to her formal education at the Holy Trinity Primary School, Ikere-Ekiti where she led her class for six years in the school between 1964 and 1969. She proceeded to the Methodist Girl’s High School, Ifaki-Ekiti where she also distinguished herself with the best result in WASC of 1974 set.

Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Alade (JP. JP.) is an alumnus of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State where she studied Biology between 1975 and 1979. Her bright academic doggedness yielded a prolific result, as she was offered the British Scholarship to study a Master’s Degree in Education at the famous University of Durham, England between 1986 and 1987. She equally bagged Ph.D in Education at the University of Ibadan, 1994 to 1998.

Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Alade joined the old Ondo State as an Education Officer II in 1980. Due to her rare urge to serve and make remarkable positive impacts, she determinedly rose through the ranks to become Director in the Science, Technology and Mathematics Department, Ministry of Education from September 1998 to December, 2000. She was also Director of Planning, Research and Statistics Department between 2001 and 2003 in the same Ministry before she was divinely appointed to assume the post of a Permanent Secretary in December, 2003.

By this appointment Dr. (Mrs.) Alade became the first woman Permanent Secretary in the Political and Economic Department, Office of the Deputy Governor. She was also the pioneer Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs from May, 2005 to June, 2007. She was also the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Technology from June 2007 to October, 2009. She was the pioneer Permanent Secretary, Government Assets and Common Services Department and also Permanent Secretary Bureau of Infrastructure, Office of the Governor, Ekiti State. Her unique and exemplary leadership styles are attestations to her vitality, humility, generosity and faith in God.

Dr. (Mrs.) Alade had laboured assiduously in diligence, perseverance, humility and selflessness to break through the hurdles of life impossibilities and pains. She, despite the various negative disparities against the female child, has been able to make remarkable achievements in her profession and career.

Dr. (Mrs.) Alade is a talented writer who has published against some moral vices of the society. As a Jerusalem Pilgrim, Justice of Peace and Assistant Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, she is a committed and God-fearing Christian who belongs to some religious and social associations. She is equally a member of some National and International Organizations such as: Graduate Society, University of Durham, U.K; Durham University Alumni Association; British Association for counselling; Newcastle upon Tyne Alumni Association; Counselling Association of Nigeria etc.

While commenting on the role-model responsibilities of women, she urged them to be better facilitators of firm family foundations in their homes and accord their husbands their due respect as the head of a family. In spite of her tight schedules, she always finds time to keep the company of her family.

Dr. (Mrs.) Alade loves handball, reading, scrabble game, village evangelism, teaching of God’s word and marital counselling as her hobby. She is happily married to her heartrob, Mr. Olu Alade, a well-rounded statesman and the marriage is fruitfully blessed with promising and thriving children.
