Ondo Chief Judge sets up panel to investigate Deputy Governor

Following the directive of the Ondo State House of Assembly to the Chief Judge to set up a panel to look into the allegations of gross misconduct leveled against the deputy governor, Mr Alli Olanusi, a seven-man panel has been constituted by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi.

In a letter dated 23 April, 2015, the Chief Judge said “in line with the provision of section 188 (5) of the Constitution of Federal Republic Of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I have set up a seven man panel to investigate the allegations against the Deputy Governor as required by the constitution.

Members of the panel include Mr Aladesanmi Akingbade, Barr.Ademola Ekundayo, Ven. Richard Obafemi, Mr Abraham Kola Mathew, Mr Ibrahim Shodeinde and Mrs Eunice Yinka Obadele.

Mr Olatunji Stanley Adeniyan will serve as Chairman of the panel.

All members have been inaugurated.

The House had on Wednesday directed the State’s Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Kumuyi to set up a seven man panel to look into the allegations of gross misconduct levelled against the deputy governor following the impeachment notice served him earlier in the week.

The lawmakers hinged their decision to impeach the deputy governor over allegations of gross misconduct, financial misappropriation, absenteeism from official duties and allegedly causing political disaffection in the cabinet of the state governor.

The impeachment notice signed by 20 of the 26 lawmakers was announced by the Speaker, Jumoke Akindele, after the clerk read 7 allegations against the Deputy Governor.
