Police IG and DSS restores Speaker Tambuwal’s security

Several months after the Inspector General of Police (IG), Suleiman Abba, withdrew police officers and men attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, the team was reinstated on Wednesday.

Although no reason was given for the re-instatement of the security men by Abba, who had a running battle with Tambuwal and who he publicly refused to recognise as Speaker, Tambuwal’s spokesperson, Mallam Imam Imam, confirmed that his principal’s police orderlies had been returned.

“I can confirm that the security detail attached to Mr. Speaker have been reinstated,” Imam said.

In addition to the reinstatement of Tambuwal’s police orderlies, the Department of State Security (DSS) had also sent back their operatives to the speaker. Like the police, no reason was given by DSS for the reinstatement of the speaker’s security aides.
