2 female suicide bombers die in accidental detonation

Two female suicide bombers have been blown apart after the improvised explosive devices strapped on them accidental detonated.

The incident happened at Auno village of the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday.

The suicide bombers were believed to be on mission to Maiduguri Market when the IEDs blew them apart.

An eyewitness, Gana Bukar, said the incident occurred at about 2pm, adding that seven other persons were injured.
He said, “The suicide bombers were said to have been brought by one suspected Boko Haram member. They were to take a bus to the market.

“We were told that their master dropped them in Jakana.”
A taxi driver, Mallam Mohammdu Abor, who claimed that he drove through Auno on Sunday, told Punch Metro that he saw mangled bodies of the suicide bombers by the roadside.

The spokesman for a youth vigilante group in Borno State, Jibrin Gunda, said he was informed about the incident, adding that the group had intensify stop-and-search to prevent bombers from getting into Maiduguri.
