Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wants world-class midfielder

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will be looking to sign a world-class midfielder during the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman spent over £150million on players last summer, with Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind and Luke Shaw all making the move to Old Trafford, but the manager is not happy with the make-up of his squad.

The lack of creative midfielder has resulted in Wayne Rooney dropping back but Van Gaal will be looking to address the situation in the summer.
“Yes, of course,” van Gaal replied when asked if a creative midfielder was the top of his priority list.
Rooney has adapted well to his new role in midfield, but Van Gaal admits he has had no choice but to deploy his skipper in an unfamiliar position.
“I’m looking for balance and I need it in midfield,” Van Gaal explained.

“The last games I played with Adnan Januzaj and Angel Di Maria in the midfield positions. Then you need a certain balance for those kind of creative players.

“So when you have these creative players and you think that [Radamel] Falcao and Robin van Persie are also creative, then you have four creative players. Then you have to look for balance in your team.”
