Jack Wilshere undergoes ankle surgery

Jack Wilshere has undergone minor surgery on his ankle and will miss Sunday’s Premier League clash with Everton.

Wilshere underwent ankle surgery in November but he appeared to have put the problem behind him when he returned to training earlier this month.

He was an unused substitute in the 2-1 defeat of Crystal Palace at the weekend and subsequently missed Arsenal’s loss to Monaco in the Champions League in midweek.

Ahead of that game, Wenger was forced to deny reports that the midfielder had suffered a setback but he has confirmed he has undergone a minor procedure that will rule him out for days.
“He had a little surgery on his ankle because it was irritating him a bit but it’s a very minor procedure so he will be out for a few days,” Wenger told his weekly news conference.

“It was planned to be done at the end of the season and because he had an irritation with it we decided to do it now and it’s just a few days.

“Next weekend will be quick but I don’t know exactly when he will be back but it will be days not weeks.”
