Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock rules out Ashley Cole signing

Neil Warnock has no plans to try to lure Ashley Cole to Crystal Palace in the January transfer window.

Cole left the Premier League for Roma in the summer, but he has struggled to break into Rudi Garcia’s starting XI, making just eight appearances in Serie A so far.

Warnock is a fan of the former Chelsea and Arsenal full-back and recently admitted he would like the opportunity to sign him in January.

However, he believes there is no chance the 33-year-old will be moving to Selhurst Park.

“I do not think there is any chance whatsoever. The facts are that he is not going to leave Italy for a year,” Warnock told reporters.

“He is loving it there. He walks about in the town without getting recognised. The press are not shoving cameras in his face, so he is loving it.

“I was asked the question ‘would I like Ashley Cole’ and I said: ‘Yes, I would love him’, but we have already been told that there is no way he is coming back to England.”
