Tafawa Balewa’s son drops Presidential ambition; ...declares support for President Jonathan

Despite the decision to allow him and others with presidential ambition to collect the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms, the son of the former Prime Minister, AbdulJelili Tafawa Balewa Thursday announced that he has dropped out of the presidential primary election of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) slated for December 6.

Apart from withdrawing from the presidential race, he pledged his support for the candidacy of President Goodluck Jonathan.

AbdulJalili Tafawa Balewa stated this in Abuja as he announced his withdrawal from the presidential race at a press conference organized by the Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark.

Balewa' s statement laid credence to an earlier statement made by Clark that he has succeeded in intervening to make peace between AbdulJelei and Goodluck whom he (Clark) referred to them as his sons.
