Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko ruled out for 3 weeks with calf injury
Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is facing up to three weeks on the sidelines with a calf injury.
After being named on the bench, Dzeko lasted just four minutes or City’s 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and was immediately ruled out of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Israel.
The international break provides the 28-year-old with the time to focus on his recovery, but he is a doubt for City’s Premier League home game against Swansea on Saturday week.
“It’s a very serious injury and requires the kind of treatment whose time-frame unfortunately rules out a quick return,” Bosnia-Herzegovina team doctor Reuf Karabeg said.
Dzeko added: “I am extremely disappointed with the news that I will miss this match but I have faith in my team-mates and believe that they have it in them to get a result.”
