Victor Valdes set to take Manchester United offer

Manchester United have offered goalkeeper Victor Valdes the opportunity to train with the squad as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.

Valdes, who tore his anterior cruciate knee ligament in March, is available on a free transfer after leaving Barcelona at the end of last season and has been linked to a number of big clubs.

The 32-year-old will be offered the chance to continue his recovery with United before training with the first team.

“Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has offered the 32-year-old former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes a chance to complete his rehabilitation from a knee injury and to work his way back to fitness with the club,” a statement from the club read.

“Valdes, a free agent, will have his recovery supervised by the United medical staff before training with the first team, as he bids to regain full fitness.”

Valdes made his Barcelona debut under Van Gaal in 2002 and it has been widely reported that United could sign him on a free transfer once he has proved his fitness.
