Manuel Pellegrini concerned by Manchester City form

Manuel Pellegrini is worried by his side’s form going into Sunday’s derby against Manchester United.

Since defeating Tottenham in the Premier League, City have drawn at CSKA Moscow, lost at West Ham before being dumped out of the Capital One Cup by Newcastle.

The statistics do not make for good reading ahead of the Manchester derby and Pellegrini admits he is concerned by his side’s recent poor form.
“My feeling is that we are not playing well. We are in a difficult moment with a lack of trust,” Pellegrini said.

“We are conceding too (many) easy goals and we are not scoring the chances we have to score. That’s the feeling at this moment.

“It’s a lack of confidence that we must address as soon as possible because we need to continue to be involved in the other competitions.

“Of course we must be worried – we didn’t win the three games we played this week. We must be worried about that but we must find a solution and we must address it. It’s not normal to see this team playing the way we are now.”
To make matters worse, Pellegrini has some injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s crucial Premier League clash.

David Silva lasted less than 15 minutes of Wednesday’s loss before being taken off with a knee problem, while Yaya Toure was withdrawn late on after developing a groin injury.
“David has problem in his knee. We will see tomorrow how big is it,” Pellegrini said.

“Yaya was with some problem in his groin, but I think that’s nothing important.”
