Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera suffers fractured rib

Manchester United will monitor Ander Herrera over the coming weeks after it was revealed that the midfielder suffered a fractured rib in the win over West Ham at the weekend.

Herrera was substituted after 74 minutes of the 2-1 win at Old Trafford but the extent of the injury was only confirmed on Tuesday.
“Ander Herrera sustained a fractured rib during the match against West Ham United on Saturday. The club will continue to monitor his progress over the next few weeks,” the club said.
Herrera joins a growing list of players on the treatment table with fellow midfielders Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Ashley Young all currently sidelined.

Defender Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans are also out, while Wayne Rooney will miss the next three games after picking up a red card against the Hammers.
