Arsenal prepares £32million bid for Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels

Arsenal are preparing to launch a £32million bid for Borussia Dortmund star and Manchester United target Mats Hummels.

The Germany international was linked with a move away from the German giants over the summer, but opted to remain with Jurgen Klopp's side.

United boss Louis Van Gaal is desperate to bring Hummels to Old Trafford this January as he aims for a top-four finish, although it is believed that the 25-year-old wants Champions League football.

That has opened the door for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who has just two recognised centre-backs in his squad.

The Frenchman is keen to pair Hummels alongside Laurent Koscielny at the heart of his defence, and according to various reports, Wenger is ready to splash the cash in the next transfer window.

Hummels has previously stated that he isn't interested in a move to the Premier League, but recently claimed that he would consider a switch if the suitors in question played an attractive brand of football.

He said: "If a club with a bigger reputation than Dortmund were to make a move, but I don't like the way they play football, I wouldn't even consider a move.

"At Dortmund, the style of play is exactly the way I want to play football."
