President Jonathan's Media Aide, Doyin Okupe started the controversial Bring Back Jonathan campaign

Days back, some Pro Goodluck Jonathan campaigners released a banner bearing the inscription, #BringBackGoodluck2015, a slogan which is definitely inspired by the #BringBackOurGirls campaign which has championed the release of the over 200 Chibok girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram sect for months now.

This morning, the Nigerian President through a statement by his media aide, Reuben Abati had directed that all such posters and banners which have been around Abuja be removed immediately as he considered them ‘highly insensitive’.

Former Nigerian Minister of Education and one of the conveners of the #BringBackOurGirls group, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili is however not impressed by the President’s order. She considers the order as hypocritical and deceitful. According to her, the President’s aide, Chief Doyin Okupe had started the #BringBackGoodluck2015 hashtag on Twitter days back:

Here are some tweets from Oby Ezekwesili:

"LIARS and Duplicitous beings. @abati1990: President Jonathan orders removal of offensive Bring Back Jonathan Signs"

"Where were you lot when @doyinokupe -- the President's Public Affairs Spokesman GENERATED that CALLOUS hashtag and tweeted it 4 many days?"

"Also incompetent, @abati1990 dissociating the Presidency from a hashtag that was GLEEFULLY CREATED by the President's spokesman @doyinokupe"

"The inhumanity of that hashtag was too much for one to bear and so steadfastly ignored it...But this DECEIT by @abati1990 cannot be ignored."
