Victor Valdes fails medical at Monaco; ...deal falls through
After seeing out his contract at Barcelona, and leaving the Spanish giants this summer, it seemed as though Victor Valdes was heading for Ligue 1. Big-spending French club Monaco were very keen to snap up the highly experienced Spanish goalkeeper on a free transfer and were expected to put the final touches on his transfer this afternoon.
That wasn't the case though. Despite already agreeing personal terms with Monaco, Victor Valdes failed his medical earlier on today.
After picking up a serious knee injury against Celta Vigo towards the end of March. It would appear that Valdes' fitness is under serious doubt. The goalkeeper isn't expected to be fully match fit until around October-November time and after failing his medical - his move to Monaco appears to be well and truly off.

Monaco's vice-president Vadim Vasyliev has made a statement saying: "He is injured and will not come here."It seems highly unlikely that Valdes will return to Barcelona, a club where he won every trophy possible, as they have already signed ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo to replace him. Instead, Victor Valdes will now have to look for a new club this summer, but at the same time will have prove his fitness.
