Southampton defender Calum Chambers set to complete £16m move to Arsenal

Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Southampton defender Calum Chambers for a fee of about £16m.

The England Under-19 international underwent a medical on Friday.

Chambers, 19, has made 25 senior appearances for the Saints and Arsenal see him as an option at right-back, centre-back or in a more advanced role.

Arsenal have already signed Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle for £10m but want another right-back after allowing Bacary Sagna to join Manchester City - while Carl Jenkinson will also be allowed to leave with West Ham interested.

Arsenal have also enquired about Saints midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, 24, who played for France at the World Cup.
