Barcelona praise Luis Suarez’s apology for biting Giorgio Chiellini
Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has welcomed Luis Suarez’s apology for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini.
Suarez has been banned from ‘any football related activity’ for four months after he was found guilty of biting Chiellini during Uruguay’s victory in the final round of group matches.
Having initially denied biting Chiellini, Suarez issued an apology via his Twitter account on Monday night, expressing his deep regret at the incident, but many have viewed the statement at his attempt to push through a move to Barcelona.
The Spanish giants are reported to be keen on signing the striker from Liverpool and it would appear they will not be put off despite the lengthy ban.

“Suarez has shown he is humble enough to admit an error, which is very important,” Zubizarreta told reporters. When asked whether the club were preparing to table a bid for the 27-yer-old, Zubizarreta added: ”Everyone knows that Luis is an excellent player, everyone knows last season he played in various positions in attack, but everyone also knows that he is a Liverpool player.”
“He has been humble enough to apologise to those he has affected, because it happened in the middle of a festival of football. In this case it’s the best thing a person can do.”
