Arsenal target Ashley Williams sign new 4-year contract with Swansea

Ashley Williams has ended speculation regarding his future by signing a new four-year contract with Swansea.

Sunderland are understood to have made an offer for the defender, while Arsenal and QPR are known admirers of the Wales captain who had one year to run on his existing deal, but Swansea made it clear to their Premier League rivals that he was not for sale.

His representative, Jamie Moralee, had recently revealed Williams wanted to remain at the Liberty Stadium and he has not put pen to paper on a deal which will see him commit to the Swans until the summer of 2018.
“I’m delighted to sign a new contract at Swansea City. I’ve enjoyed fantastic success at this club and I want to keep helping Swansea City progress,” Williams told the club’s official website.
Williams joined Swansea in May 2008 following a successful loan spell, and he was a part of the squad that League One title before the Championship Play-Off final victory at Wembley.

After the club’s Capital One Cup victory, Williams captained the side to the last 32 of the Europa League.
