Julian Draxler rules out Arsenal switch

Julian Draxler has moved to end speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal by stating his intention to remain at Schalke for another season.

Draxler was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during the January transfer window and, while Arsene Wenger refused to confirm the rumours, Schalke’s sporting director, Horst Heldt revealed the club had rejected a bid for the player.

Having missed out in January, Wenger was expected to launch another bid for the Germany international after the World Cup. However, he looks set to miss out with the 20-year-old planning to stay with the Bundesliga club for another year.
“In January there was an offer from Arsenal but I decided to stay,” Draxler told BBC Sport.

“I will do same this summer. I want one more year with Schalke.”
