Manchester United manager David Moyes confident of qualification

David Moyes is confident Manchester United can get something out of their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils held the reigning European champions to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Tuesday night to give themselves a fighting chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.

Skipper Nemanja Vidic headed United into the lead in the 58th minute but his effort was cancelled out by Bastian Schweinsteiger’s strike less than ten minutes later.

With the German club getting the all-important away goal, United will have to score at the Allianz Arena to have any chance of progressing, but Moyes is confident they can get the result they need.
“We know that we need to score a goal [in the second leg]. At the minute, if the score stays the same, Bayern will go through,” Moyes stated.

“We have to do something about it, but I said tonight that we wanted to go into the second leg with a real chance, and I think we’ve done that. We’ve given ourselves a great opportunity to go to Munich and get a victory.

“The players played really well tonight, so we’re delighted with the performance. I was a bit disappointed that we conceded a goal in the end, but I thought it was a really good performance. The fans were great tonight, there was a great atmosphere inside the ground, but I’m really pleased with how the players played.”
