Maiduguri suicide bombings claims 21 lives

Boko Haram terrorists yesterday launched a suicide attack in Mole area of Maiduguri, Borno State capital, killing 15 civilians and destroying eight vehicles in the process.

Defence spokesman, Major General Chris Olukolade, who confirmed the attack said 17 other were injured and that one of the victims was a member of a civilian vigilante group.

According to him, “6 of the terrorists died while one has been arrested,” he added in a statement.

The Joint Information Centre for Counter Terrorism Campaign in a statement said that the explosions took place at Mule in the outskirt of Maiduguri in the north eastern part of Nigeria.

Spokesman for the counter terrorism group, Major General Chris Olukolade said that three out of the four explosive-laden vehicles were demobilised by shots fired at them by soldiers at the check point shortly before the explosions.
