Kolo Toure's calamitous defending took another turn for the worse
Kolo Toure's recent run of calamitous defending took another turn for the worse after the Liverpool centre-back gifted Fulham the lead with a comical own goal at Craven Cottage.
With the game only minutes old, the error-prone Ivory Coast defender reacted to a cross while under no pressure by slicing the ball so violently it actually swerved behind him to beat Simon Mignolet from six yards.
And, Toure's own personal blooper reel this season was given another entry shortly after when he collided heavily with Phil Dowd from behind to send the referee tumbling to the ground.
Fortunately for Toure, his latest error of judgement did not prove costly for Liverpool who managed to twice come from behind to win the game 3-2 and move to within four points of Premier League leaders Chelsea in the closest fought title race for years.
As for Toure, it was only last week that the 32-year-old was responsible for a horror pass that allowed West Brom striker Victor Anichebe to score possibly the simplest goal of his life and cost Liverpool two points.
Whether the Reds manager will be as understanding after Toure's latest gaffe remains to be seen.

‘I’m disappointed. The manager knows I’m disappointed. We have missed an opportunity. We just didn’t need that kind of mistake,’ said Toure at the time.Manager Rodgers said: ‘Kolo is devastated. It’s unfortunate. We made a mistake and were punished. It was a good finish by Anichebe but it’s cost us two points.’
