Former Kwara ACN governorship candidate, Dele Belgore defects to PDP

The former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN)governorship candidate in Kwara State, Alhaji Mohammed Dele Belgore (SAN), has announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking while addressing his supporters in his Ilorin GRA residence on Wednesday, Belgore said his decision to join PDP was informed by the yearnings of his people.

Others who defected with Belgore include Akogun Iyiola oyedepo, Reverend Bunmi Olusona, Alhaji Idris Mahmoud, Dr Sa’ad Omoiya, Alhaji Isa Afon, Honourable Agboola Ismail, Alhaji Toyin Ayinla, Bar. Funsho Sa’ad, Alhaji Atanda Soro, Alhaja Khadijat Abdullateef, Alhaji Ganiyu Onikere, among community leaders and party supporters.

Belgore, who was also a chieftain of APC, described the hand over of APC leadership in Kwara State by the national leadership of the party onto new entrants of the party as undemocratic.
“We said yes, anyone could be admitted to the party, but we insisted that it would be undemocratic, inequitable and even contrary to the very idea of change, to automatically hand over the party structures to new entrants,” he said.
Belgore also said that he would join hands with other like minds in the PDP to advocate and bring about economic liberation, equal opportunity for all and positive development. “My supporters and I therefore call on all those who wish Kwara State well, both within and beyond Kwara, indigenes and non-indigenes, to support us in the PDP to fight this just and noble cause so as to bring a brighter day to the lives of our people,” he said.
