Nemanja Vidic set for Manchester United exit after agent rules out contract extension

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer after his agent said he is unlikely to sign a new contract.

Vidic’s four-year deal runs out at the end of the season and talks over a new one have stalled, with Italian clubs Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Napoli monitoring the situation.

His agent Silvano Martina said: ‘At the moment, I would rule out an extension with Manchester United.

‘Vidic, given his contract situation, has several teams looking at him.

‘Vidic is a very good player and will have no trouble finding a new club. For the time being we are remaining calm. At the moment there has been no contact (with Napoli) but they are one of the best clubs in Europe.’
United’s policy is to offer players over the age of 30 only a one-year deal, like the one signed by Michael Carrick in November.

At 32, Vidic falls into that category too but he is understood to want a longer contract.
However, there are concerns at Old Trafford over the knee injuries that have kept the combative Serb out of action for long periods in recent seasons and Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala is one of the possible replacements being lined up by United.

Truth be told, Vidic is no more effective for manure, gone are the days when the fear of Vidic is the beginning of wisdom for opponents. Good riddance in my opinion.

But as a Gunner, I'll like to see him in manure jersey come next season, to continue with his infamous defensive errors. LOL
