Manchester City rejects Liverpool loan bid for Micah Richards

Manchester City have rejected a cheeky loan bid from Liverpool for defender Micah Richards.

With Glen Johnson struggling for fitness due to a combination of groin and ankle problems, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is on the look out for a new right back.

Richards had been targeted and the Anfield club have made an enquiry regarding the player's availability on deadline day.

But Manuel Pellegrini has rebuffed Liverpool's approach for the full-back, who can also play centre-half.

Richards' first team chances have been restricted due to the excellent displays of Pablo Zabaleta and injuries.

And he is open to leaving City in search of regular football.

But, unless there is a late change of heart from City, Richards looks set to stay in Manchester.
