Chelsea's Frank Lampard and Branislav Ivanovic ruled out for a month

Chelsea duo Frank Lampard and Branislav Ivanovic have been ruled out of action until the end of January.

Blues manager Jose Mourinho said after the New Year's Day win at Southampton that the injuries the pair suffered in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool would keep them sidelined for around a month.

Serbia defender Ivanovic, 29, hurt his knee and came off in the first half of the game on 29 December, while England midfielder Lampard, 35, suffered a muscle injury and was replaced at half-time.

Mourinho initially thought Ivanovic would not be out for long but confirmed to the club website the pair would miss most of January.

Lampard has scored four times in 18 Premier League appearances this season, while Ivanovic has started 26 matches in all competitions.
