Chelsea beat Liverpool to sign 'Egyptian Messi' Mohamed Salah

Chelsea have beaten Liverpool to land FC Basle's Mohamed Salah for £11million.

The 21-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, but Chelsea have reached an agreement with Swiss side Basle.

“Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with FC Basel for the transfer of their 21-year-old attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah,” a statement from the club read.

“The move is subject to the Egyptian international agreeing personal terms and completing a medical examination.”
Manager Jose Mourinho is fully aware of Salah’s talent after he scored against the Blues in the Champions League – he equalised for Basle in their 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge, while he was the only scorer in the return fixture.
