Arsene Wenger not interested in Dimitar Berbatov

Arsenal have not considered signing Dimitar Berbatov from Fulham, manager Arsene Wenger has revealed.

Berbatov has made it clear he wants to leave Craven Cottage in January and reports on Thursday suggested the Gunners were ready to table a £2million bid for the striker.

However, when the subject was raised during his press conference on Friday, Wenger confirmed the former Manchester United and Tottenham player was not on his wishlist.
“He is not a name we have considered at the moment,” Wenger told reporters.
Injuries to Olivier Giroud, Nicklas Bendtner and Yaya Sanogo mean Arsenal are without a full fit striker for Saturday’s FA Cup third round clash against Tottenham.

Wenger is expected to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer deadline, but the Frenchman insists he has yet to identify a suitable target.

“We have not contacted anybody,” he explained.

“We are just considering our options. I must confess they are quite restricted.”
