Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner ruled out with ankle injury

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Nicklas Bendtner is facing a number of weeks on the sidelines as a result of the ankle injury he suffered in the win over Cardiff.

Bendtner came off the bench to score the opener in the 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium, but the Denmark international was injured in the process and he will definitely miss the FA Cup third round tie at home to Tottenham on Saturday.

Although the extent of the injury has yet to be determined, Wenger believes Bendtner could be out for some time, which leaves the Gunners short of options up front.

“He sprained his ankle, [for] how long we don’t know but it looks weeks,” Wenger explained.

“We have Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott who can play striker but over the longer period we want more specialists to play through the middle.

“With two players injured it is difficult. Don’t be too quick at the moment, we will just say we have two centre forwards injured.”
Olivier Giroud missed the match due to an ankle injury, while Aaron Ramsey (thigh), Mesut Ozil (shoulder), Kieran Gibbs (calf) and Tomas Rosicky (calf) are currently sidelined.

As an Arsenal  faithful, I pray Wenger buy a goal poacher during the January transfer window. We need a striker now more than ever, we have to lift the Premier League trophy this season!
