Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini faces 2 months layoff following wrist operation

Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini could be out of action for up to two months after undergoing an operation on a wrist injury.

A back problem has ensured that the former Everton midfielder has not featured since United suffered a home defeat at the hands of the Toffees at the beginning of December.

Manager David Moyes suggested last week that if a scan on Fellaini’s back revealed that he was unable to return to action more or less immediately, he would have the operation on the wrist issue.

It appears that the proposed scan has taken place, revealing that the Belgian is not yet fit to return, as well as the overdue surgery.

It is understood that Fellaini wanted to have the operation well in advance of next summer’s World Cup finals.

In the midfielder’s absence, United have won four and lost one of their fixtures in all competitions.
