Manchester United defender Phil Jones ruled out for the festive period with knee injury

Manchester United have been dealt an injury blow with the news that defender Phil Jones will be sidelined for the Christmas period.

The England international has been ruled out of action for the next fortnight after picking up a knee injury against West Ham - meaning he will certainly miss the visit of Tottenham on New Year’s Day.

The Old Trafford club confirmed the news ahead of their Boxing Day trip to Hull on their official Twitter account.
‘We can confirm Phil Jones has suffered a knee injury and is expected to be out for a couple of weeks’.
United are set to play four games in just 11 days after today’s Premier League clash at the KC Stadium.

And, David Moyes' defensive injury problems could worsen even further after Brazilian fill back Rafael limped off in the opening half of their Boxing day fixture against Hull City.
