Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany out for 4 weeks with thigh injury

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is expected to miss up to four weeks with a thigh strain.

Kompany limped out of City’s 3-1 Premier League win over Everton on Saturday and at the time it was suggested that he had aggravated a previous groin injury. However, it has since emerged the injury is a thigh problem.

Kompany had been due to play for Belgium in their World Cup qualifiers against Croatia and Wales, but national team medics have confirmed the defender will not be available for either match.

City have yet to confirm exactly how long their skipper will be sidelined for but Belgian officials have put his recovery at four weeks, which would rule him out of the Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow and the Premier League match against Chelsea.
