Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna ruled out for 3 weeks with hamstring injury

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna will miss up to three weeks with a hamstring injury, manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The Frenchman was injured during Tuesday night’s Champions League win over Napoli and scans have confirmed he will need up to three weeks on the sidelines to recover.

The injury will keep him out of the weekend’s trip to West Brom and France’s games against Australia and Finland, while he is likely to miss the visit of Norwich on October 19.

“Sagna will be not be available, he has a hamstring injury and will be out for three weeks,” Wenger told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

Santi Cazorla has also been ruled out of Sunday’s trip to The Hawthorns as he recovers from an ankle problem, while Yaya Sanogo could make his return after the international break.

“Cazorla is not in contention. But he could be not far after the international break,” Wenger added. “Sanogo is on a good way after his back problem. He will be the same, after the international break.”

Arsenal are looking for a sixth straight win in the Premier League but Wenger knows they will have to be at their best against the Baggies.

“West Brom will be a difficult test, they have a massive squad with experienced players. It will be very interesting and it’s a massive game for us. I believe there is more to come from us but it’s about how much we want it,” he added.

Arsenal and injuries as always! Anyways, Jenkinson is a good and reliable backup for Sagna #HappyGunner :)
