25-year-old man arraigned for stealing dried fish

The Lagos Police Command has arraigned a 25-year-old man, Taye Ibrahim before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a basket of dried fish.

The incident occurred on Denton Street, in Ebute Meta area of Lagos, where Ibrahim was one of the men who assisted traders with their wares.

He allegedly absconded with the fish he was carrying for the complainant, one Mrs. Temitope Kalejaiye. The stolen fish was said to be worth N72,000.


Upon his arrest, Ibrahim allegedly told the police he had sold the item to one Adijat Ahmed, who was equally arraigned for receiving stolen goods.

The duo was arraigned on a two count of stealing and receiving on Wednesday.

The charge read in part, “That you, Taye Ibrahim, on August 23, 2013 at about 09.30am on Denton Street, Ebute Meta Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did steal a basket of dried fish valued at N72,000, property of one Temitope Kalejaiye.”

The defendants said they were not guilty of the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr. O.O Olatunji admitted them to bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till December 2 2013.

  1. not that am supporting petty crime, but someone stole 250million naira claiming they bought bulletproof cars and shes walking around free with the president while this man will be jailed for stealing fish. nigerian law only purnish the poor
