Mesut Ozil touched down at Arsenal’s Hertfordshire training ground today to begin his new career as the Gunners’ club-record signing, and he wasted no time in meeting his new team-mates Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and international colleague Lukas Podolski.

The £42million man is in line for an instant Arsenal debut after Arsene Wenger’s injury problems worsened yesterday.

Wenger is set to use the Germany international at the first possible opportunity when his side travel to Sunderland on Saturday after Tomas Rosicky returned from international duty with a thigh injury.

Rosicky joins Thomas Vermaelen, Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski, Abou Diaby and Yaya Sanogo on the club’s treatment table.
