Mike Ozekhome released by kidnappers after 20 days in captivity; ...returns home in tears of joy

Exactly 20 days after he was forcefully abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate, Chief Mike Ozekhome was released by his captors in the early hours of today.

Ozekhome, who was in tears of joy, said he will address the press later in the day and the only thing he could say at that moment was “thank you Jesus.”

Ozekhome who alighted from a black Ford Escalade SUV, ran into the arms of his wife, kissed her an repeatedly said ‘thank you Jesus’.

The legal luminary who had grown a beard, wept on sighting his children and relatives.

The lawyer said his experience in the hands of his abductors is something he will not forget.

The prominent lawyer and civil rights activist was kidnapped on Friday, 23/08/2013 evening at the Ehor stretch Benin-Auchi road in Edo state.
