Arsene Wenger would love to stay at Arsenal forever!

Arsene Wenger is ready to end doubts over his future and commit to Arsenal beyond this summer by signing a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman has been at the club for 17 years, and with the Gunners' trophy drought now into its ninth season there has been talk of him stepping aside, especially with his contract due to expire in the summer.

But Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke wants his manager to stay beyond the summer and deliver the Barclays Premier League title to the Emirates.

Despite not being in a rush to open talks over a new deal, Wenger is delighted by Kroenke’s public backing and is confident negotiations would take very little time as he wants to stay at Arsenal forever.
“I’m very honoured to have the support of Stan Kroenke. That is something that is very positive for me,” Wenger told reporters.

“I would love to be here forever because that would make me immortal! I love this club of course.

“The good thing with me is I don’t need a lot of talk to extend the contract I have.

“I don’t think that’s most important thing at the moment. I said I want to focus on the quality of our season and no one can question my commitment to this club. I want to do well and the question of me staying will be secondary for that.”
Arsenal have not won a trophy in eight years and it was thought he would step down if he went another season without silverware.

As recently as last summer he was linked with a move away from north London, but the 65-year-old is pleased to have remained with the Gunners.
“I’ve turned down many offers (over the years). I’ve always thought this club is special. We have a team now that can compete and that’s what we want to show,” Wenger added.

“If I am still here today it is because I got that consistent support from inside the club.

“The good thing with me, if I have one quality, (it is that) you don’t need a lot of talks to extend the contract I have.

“I want to focus on the quality of our season. I don’t believe that anybody can question my commitment to this club.

“I want to feel that I do well and then the question of me staying will be secondary after that.”
