Newcastle reject Arsenal's £10m bid for Yohan Cabaye

According to Sportsmail, Newcastle have rejected a £10million bid from Arsenal for Yohan Cabaye.

The France international joined Alan Pardew's side from Lille two years ago and has received stellar reviews in the Premier League, attracting interest from Manchester United.

His form has attracted interest from Arsene Wenger, who has only made one signing this summer, but Newcastle have rejected the offer and he is expected to start against Manchester City on Monday night.

Arsenal fans booed the team after their humiliating 3-1 loss to Aston VIlla at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, urging Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis to spend some money

Wenger now seems to have sprung into life following the criticism, reportedly weighing up a £35million bid for Swansea duo Michu and Ashley Williams.

The situation is similar to how Wenger found himself at the end of the transfer window in August 2011.

The need for players also comes in the wake of an injury crisis at the club.

The Gunners take on Fenerbahce in a crucial Champions League play-off on Wednesday andhave many players unavailable through injury.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still being assessed and there is no definitive word on his length of his time out but he is expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering knee ligament damage.

Bacary Sagna still has a chance of making the flight. He fell heavily on Saturday and is experiencing neck trouble but hasn't yet been ruled out of the squad by Arsene Wenger.

The club are confident that Kieran Gibbs, who is nursing a cut to the head, Tomas Rosicky (knee), and Aaron Ramsey (ankle) will be fit enough to play.

Whether the club return with another bid for Cabaye is yet to be seen, but it is unlikely any move could be completed before the trip to Turkey.

A little too late Arsenal, no team will sell a star player at this time knowing fully well that proper replacement is almost impossible.
