Manchester United open talks with Everton over deal for Marouane Fellaini

Manchester United are set to make Marouane Fellaini new manager David Moyes' first major signing.

Old Trafford chiefs have opened talks with with their Everton counterparts over a deal for Marouane Fellaini, as David Moyes fears that his top midfield target, Cesc Fábregas of Barcelona, could prove out of reach.

The clause that allowed the Belgian to leave Goodison Park for a Champions League club should Everton receive a formal offer of £23million has expired, so United are currently in the midst of trying to negotiate the lowest possible fee for the player.

Fellaini is understood to have offers from elsewhere in the Premier League but the 25-year-old would relish the opportunity to join United and continue his working relationship with Moyes.

Fellaini will be a great addition to Old Trafford, who is desperate for a big signing. And with Moyes at the helm of affairs, convincing Fellaini to join his former boss should be easy.
