Ailing Gov. Suntai dissolves cabinet; ...appoints new SSG & Chief of Staff

The Taraba state governor, Danbaba Suntai has dissolved the state executive council. Also sent packing are all special advisers but not special assistants.

Governor Suntai has also approved the appointment of Mr. Gibon Timothy Kataps as the Secretary to the State Government, while Mallam Aminu Jika is the new Chief of Staff.

The governor, who made the changes through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Sylvanus Giwa, also directed all commissioners to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries while the special advisers are to hand over to the Government House.

Controversy has trailed Mr. Suntai’s return with observers questioning his mental state of health as the governor continues to stay or be kept away from public glare.

Although the governor sent a letter to the Speaker of the Assembly on Tuesday asking to return to office, the speaker has reportedly rejected the letter asking Mr. Suntai to appear before the lawmakers to confirm his ability to lead the state.

Reacting to the announcement, the Acting Governor of the state, Alhaji Garba Umar, who spoke through his press secretary, Kefas Sule, advised people of the state to remain calm, pointing out that there is no parallel government in Taraba state. He said the matter will soon be resolved amicably.

He promised that he will issue a statement on the purported dissolution of the cabinet in due course.

Also reacting, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Haruna Tsokwa, said that Governor Suntai has no right to dissolve the cabinet.Tsokwa said the State House of Assembly recognizes Acting Governor Garba Umar as the man in charge of the affairs of the state.

Who is fooling who?

It is obviously obvious that Suntai is not behind this political move, but his handlers! ...time will tell.
