Prince William and Kate Middleton welcome baby boy
Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their baby BOY into the world, Kensington Palace announced today.
Third in line to the throne, the Prince of Cambridge was delivered at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s hospital in Paddington.
The palace said in a statement: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz.
The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth."
Prince William issued a brief statement tonight about the birth of his son saying: “We could not be happier.”
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”
The new royal baby will be the Queen’s third great-grandchild and is destined to be crowned monarch.
